Monday, June 21st

Wow. Late June. Well, I guess I'll give you all the most exciting info first. I got transferred. I was shocked. I was really hoping not to go, but oh well. Saying goodbye to people that you've grown to love is always tough. Luckily, I didn't get transferred too far away. I'm down in South Laredo. My address is 134 Alicante #2 Laredo, TX 78046. Ryan actually served in this area (I saw his name in the area book, and on some teaching records, so that was fun.) I'm assuming that I will be here until the end of my mission. I can't imagine being transferred again. Anyway, that's the update. My new companion's name is Elder Anderson. He's from Richfield, Utah. This is the start of his third transfer. Apparently his best friend back home was in my zone in the MTC. It seems like there's always some sort of a connection out there.

I'm trying to think of what else is going on. Well, we'll be having a baptism this next weekend. His name is Juan. He was an active Jehovah's Witness, but read the Book of Mormon and knew it was true, and so he'll be getting baptized. That's pretty exciting. We're also working with a couple of other great people that are doing well at quitting drugs and smoking. How grateful I am for such wonderful blessings from the Lord.

So, it's been ridiculously hot here lately, and it will only be getting hotter, so that should be fun. I do enjoy it here. I'm continuing to learn and grow SO much! I really am trying to make the best of every moment.

Well, I love you all. Next week, I'll be 21! Woohoo! Well, take care!

Love,
Elder John H. Meservy

Say hi to El Cenizo and Rio Bravo for me. Also, if the Gonzalez family still lives in El Cenizo, tell them I miss them. They were the best. Just ask them about Salchipapas. It was their daughter's favorite food to make.
