I received my mission call to Texas, McAllen. I enter the MTC on the 3rd of September. I will learn the Spanish language. I actually know a couple of close friends that served in this same mission. One which got back just two weeks ago. It sounds like it's about half Spanish, and half English speaking, depending on the area that you get called to.
My parents just got back from a vacation to Guatemala, and today when they got home, I showed them the call and the packet that came with it. Well, my mom tells me, "I grew up with your mission president." "What? No way!" Apparantly his family was in the Val Verda 2nd ward (in Bountiful) as well. Crazy stuff! So, I called and told my Grandma Moulton, my mom's mom, to tell her what I just found out. She thought that was something and told me some stories about their family. It will be interesting to talk to him about the Val Verda 4th of July band. I'll have to bring pictures...
Anyway, I'm excited for the opportunity and blessing that I have to serve as a missionary of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I know that this church is true, that God lives, and that as strive to return to Him, that we will find more happiness in this life than we ever thought possible. I know that God loves each and every one of his children, and wants us all to return unto Him. I say this, humbly, in the name of our Lord, our Savior, and our Redeemer, even Jesus Christ, amen.
